CooperVision, a company mostly known for its MyDay, Clarity and Biofinity ranges of soft contact lenses, has made a substantial donation to Optometry Giving Sight, supporting the World Sight Day Challenge initiative for the fourth year in a row.
The donation, which amounted to $125,000, was made thanks to the involvement and dedication of the contact lens manufacturer’s employees, who had raised the money taking part in such events as 5km runs, an educational campaign and a family carnival.
Speaking about the donation, Dan McBride (the president of CooperVision) stressed that it will allow Optometry Giving Sight to provide eye tests to as many as 25,000 people in developing countries. This may save a number of men, women and children from losing their sight, McBride stated, adding that the company was proud of the efforts demonstrated by its employees, who seem to be really committed to improving people’s sight each day, which CooperVision declares as its mission.
The CEO of Optometry Giving Sight, Clive Miller thanked CooperVision and its employees for their support, stressing that the donation will have a huge impact on a number of people for decades.
