The most recent meeting of the American Academy of Optometry included several important events, one of which was the launch of a new brand of contact lenses, Acuvue Oasys 1-Day with Hydraluxe.
According to Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, which developed and manufactures the lenses, Acuvue Oasys 1-Day with Hydraluxe has been designed to address the problems (discomfort, dryness, inadequate quality of vision) that result from the recent trends in our lifestyles (the extensive use of devices with digital displays, such as tablets and smart phones, work in air-conditioned rooms, etc.).
During the company's presentation at the meeting, Johnson & Johnson representatives asserted that the new contact lenses are supplied in packs filled with a medium mimicking the human tears (thanks to an appropriate electrolyte balance). In addition, the material in which the lenses are made contains special 'tear-like molecules', which increase comfort. Meanwhile, the lenses' enlarged diameter and optic zone prevent the cornea from drying and significantly improve vision in patients with larger pupils.
The lenses should be widely available in the UK within a few months.
