Issues related to environmental protection are extremely important nowadays, and the latest announcement made by the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) seems to confirm that.
The announcement is related to the organisation’s 37th Clinical Conference and Exhibition, which is supposed to be entirely eco-friendly.
The BCLA lists several methods with which it has made sure the conference has minimal impact on the environment: the use of a venue meeting the requirements of ISO 20121 International Standard for Sustainable Events Management, decreasing the number of printed materials (by replacing them with electronic documents and mobile applications), printing documents on recycled paper, etc.
According to Sarah Greenwod, who is responsible for managing BCLA events, the association is committed to the principles of environmental protection sustainable development, though all its actions are also cost-effective and its events are planned in a way that assures the needs of their attendees are met. In addition, the BCLA has asked all delegates to support its efforts and return their materials after the conference.
