Billy Murray plays a modern version of Dracula in the newest horror film featuring vampires, entitled Dead Cert. The film was enthusiastically received at the FrightFest horror film festival in London.
As vampire characters always require a certain look, impossible to achieve with the use of special effects alone, the actor had to undergo a painstaking make-up process, whose key element was to put on special coloured contact lenses.
Murray, who has very sensitive eyes, revealed that inserting those piercing red contact lenses was not pleasant and reminded him of his cataract operation, but without them his costume would not be complete.
The 69-year-old actor is famous for his role in The Bill, where he played DS Don Beech, but he has starred in over 50 film and TV productions over the last thirty years, receiving praise from both critics and viewers. He is currently working on another film, Gunned Down, which is to be released later this year.
