The number of individuals who decide to wear coloured contact lenses (e.g. to parties or special events, such as film premieres and fan conventions) is constantly increasing, experts in the field inform.
According to contact lens specialist Rob Dool, coloured contact lenses are worn by all kinds of people, ranging from fashionistas (who wear them only to appear trendy) to ardent film and book fans, who want to look like their favourite characters at Halloween parties.
The expert has noticed other trends as well. For instance, the popularity of different colours – to a certain extent – depends on seasons. Blue contact lenses, for example, seem to be in high demand in the summer, while dark colours gain popularity in the autumn and winter.
Dool also stresses the impact of some films, particularly the Twilight saga, which features numerous supernatural characters with unnatural-looking eyes (the upcoming final instalment of the franchise is likely to increase the popularity of ‘vampire lenses’ even more). When the Halloween season comes, we will probably see many Bella Swans and Edward Cullens, the expert believes.
