Contact lenses can positively affect the performance of professional athletes and active individuals, a vision expert argues.
According to sports vision specialist Gavin Rebello, a number of people with refractive errors have problems when wearing glasses, which prove to be very inconvenient and sometimes downright dangerous during sporting activities.
The expert stated that contact lenses are generally a better means of vision correction, as they do not cause the problems that glasses are often associated with. They give their users a wider field of vision, do not get dirty when it starts to rain and mud is everywhere, do not mist over when a person starts to sweat in the middle of a match.
In addition, Rebello stated, modern contact lenses are extremely comfortable and safe, and do not have to be worn full-time, as it is possible to insert and remove them whenever it is desirable. Their only sport-related limitation is that they should not be worn when swimming or doing other waters sports, as it can lead to eye infections.
