The popularity of daily contact lenses has soared in recent years and most experts agree that this is a very positive development.
First and foremost, daily disposable contact lenses are not reused and therefore do not require cleaning or soaking in a lens care solution. It also means that, every single day, the patient wears a fresh pair of contact lenses which are free of deposits and any kind of contamination. This is important not only because it is extremely convenient, but also because it entails significant health benefits.
According to Keith Tempany, who was named Contact Lens Practitioner of the Year in 2010, daily contact lenses are a great way to avoid many dangerous complications (such as microbial keratitis) without the need to maintain them or store them in special cases.
The expert also believes that daily contact lenses are a fantastic option for those who travel a lot, as travelling usually makes it much more difficult to clean lenses properly.
