Menicon America has just announced the launch of a new GP contact lenses care system in the US. The system includes improved versions of several products that have been proved to be both safe and effective. In addition, the company announced a change in its selling strategy.
The lens care system consists of Menicon Rewetting Drops (for lubricating lenses before insertion), Menicon Progent (a deposit and protein remover) as well as Menicon Unique pH (a multipurpose solution for gas permeable contact lenses). The Unique pH brand was created by Alcon Laboratories Inc.; Menicon bought the name and a global manufacturing licence, which will allow it to produce and market the solution around the world.
Menicon Progent used to be available for in-office use only, but the American Food and Drug Administration has recently approved it for biweekly use by patients at home.
The introduction of the lens care system was accompanied by the launch of Menicon WebStore, which eye care practitioners host for their patients.
