As many as six out of ten Malaysian eyeglasses wearers are considering trying using contact lenses instead of spectacles seeking better comfort and convenience.
The General Manager of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care South-East Asia, Stanford Guo, stated that a study carried out by the company revealed that most individuals using vision correction in Malaysia used eyeglasses only. According to the results of the study exclusive glasses wearers constitute 57% of all individuals using vision correction, while 38% of them wear both contact lenses and glasses. Only 5% use only contact lenses.
Guo believes that Malaysian consumers who need vision correction are conscious of the benefits of contact lenses. In his opinion, they perceive them as liberating and allowing them to get rid of their inhibitions.
The new contact lenses launched by Johnson & Johnson, ACUVUE ADVANCE PLUS, are supposed to have been designed to help glasses wearers to switch to contact lenses. The company wishes, Guo added, to satisfy the needs of new wearers better than before.
