Cynthia Popper, an ardent surfer, has admitted that contact lenses help her achieve better results when surfing and protect her eyes against the harmful UV rays.
Popper, talking to ABC Local, stated that the reason she uses contact lenses when she goes surfing is that she can feel comfortable wearing them and concentrate on what is the most important: the waves.
In addition, she said that she always buys contact lenses with UV filters, as they protect her eyes from damage that could be caused by the sun. What is more, the lenses reduce glare, which is a big problem for many sportspeople.
Surfers need to see the approaching waves, Popper added, and contact lenses allow that without any of the problems that other methods of vision correction are associated with. Wearing contact lenses while surfing, she feels safe and comfortable, and can make the most of the activity.
