The importance of following the instructions of manufacturers and eye care practitioners while wearing contact lenses has been emphasised numerous times in recent years, but – as several studies confirm – it is still a widespread problem.
Consequently, an industry event has been organised in order to increase awareness among contact lens users with respect to the proper use and maintenance of contact lenses. The event was held at the Avenue Mall in Jacksonville, Florida and was sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, the manufacturer of Acuvue brand contact lenses.
During the symposium, contact lens users could learn about how to take care of contact lenses, what proper hygiene regimens involve, how to put on and remove contact lenses – things especially useful for those who have been using contact lenses only for a short period of time.
According to the eye care experts who attended the symposium, its goals also included dismissing all the myths associated with contact lenses and showing how visits to an eye doctor or optician can prevent many potentially serious problems.
