The producer of Maxim scleral contact lenses, Accu Lens, has just announced that this line of its products has been extended. The lenses will now be available in additional parameters.
The company stated that the addition of 17.5mm lenses will allow eye care professionals to treat even the most severe cases of keratoconus, manage patients with extremely steep bulging transplants and help other patients with rare eye conditions more effectively.
Maxim Scleral lenses are generally used for the management of dry eye syndrome, irregular corneas, keratoconus, corneal trauma and pellucid marginal degeneration. Most of their parameters are adjusted to individual patients; their design is semi-scleral and they are made of Boston XO2 material.
The manufacturer also offers lenses for patients with short-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism, presbyopia, as well as for patients who have undergone eye surgery (Penetrating Keratoplasty (PKP), Corneal Transplant, Lamellar Keratoplasty). The company is located in Denver, Colorado, USA, and has been conducting its activities since 1970, when it was founded by a local optician.
