All eye care experts agree that wearing contact lenses is perfectly safe as long as patients follow certain basic rules, including maintaining proper hygiene and replacing lenses in accordance with the schedule recommended by contact lens manufacturers. However, there are still many patients suffering from complications associated with contact lenses and resulting from failure to comply with these recommendations. Due to this fact, another warning concerning the problem has been issued.
In her latest article, Colleen Cappon, who is a writer for Fox News, stated that those who wear daily contact lenses should be particularly careful with respect to their lens replacement schedule. Such lenses have to be thrown away after 24 hours, as after that time they are no longer able to provide their users with an appropriate level of vision correction and can cause various serious infections.
According to Cappon, the longer daily contact lenses are used, the higher the risk of the occurrence of complications. In addition, one has to remember that daily contact lenses can never be reused.
