Recently, a group of researchers published a study, showing that allergy season in North America has significantly (by 27 days) increased in the last fifteen years, making life more difficult for all those who suffer from allergies, and not only in America, because this phenomenon is global. Fortunately, there are numerous ways of dealing with the problem, which contact lens users – who are especially affected by allergic reactions – can use.
One of them, it has been lately revealed, could be wearing daily contact lenses. According to Paul Karpecki, who is the clinical director of the Koffler Vision Group, such lenses can help patients to minimise the symptoms of allergies. This is because using a fresh pair of lenses every day eliminates the risk of the appearance of deposits on the lens surface, which cause eye irritation, aggravating allergies.
The expert also stated that it is a good idea to use eye drops before and after wearing contact lenses, as anti-allergy medications often cause dry eye symptoms, very unpleasant for contact lens wearers.
