Though millions of people around the world wear contact lenses, there are still many misconceptions surrounding them. Because of that, journalists from FoxNews.com decided to talk to an expert and explain the 7 most common ones.
The following list, including the most important facts about contact lenses, is the result of the interview:
#1. Contact lenses cannot be worn longer than recommended by the manufacturer in order to save money. Replacement schedules are not designed to increase the companies’ profits, but to protect patients.
#2. Only continuous wear contact lenses (e.g. Air Optix Night & Day) can be worn overnight.
#3. Contact lens solutions cannot be reused.
#4 The choice of a contact lens solution is a matter of individual preference and sensitivity to different substances.
#5. Rinsing contact lenses with tap water can cause a serious infection.
#6. Contact lenses cannot get stuck behind the eye. The conjunctiva protects the eyeball from such a possibility.
#7. Nobody is too old to wear contact lenses.
The journalists hope that the interview will contribute to increasing awareness among contact lens users and the general population.
