Contact lenses are generally considered to be a perfect choice for athletes, especially if the sport they are involved in requires a lot of movement and perfect vision at all times. Recently, an eye care expert has suggested that contact lenses may be an excellent solution for cyclists, who often break their glasses when they fall.
According to optometrist Brendan O’Brien, who was interviewed by Bike Biz, contact lenses have numerous advantages over glasses when it comes to cycling. Apart from the fact that they are much more convenient than glasses (as they do not get dirty or wet during a bike ride), they also allow cyclists to see better. This results from several factors, including a larger field of vision and improved space perception, associated with the lenses moving with the eye, which means that their users always see through the optic zone – the area that provides the best vision.
All in all, O’Brien concluded, contact lenses are an obvious choice for most cyclists, providing them with convenience and safety not available to those who wear glasses.
