Basketball Player Benefits from Wearing Contact Lenses

Olivia DeFrancesco, an NCHSAA 1-A basketball player, has markedly improved her performance thanks to wearing contact lenses.

The Bishop McGuinness player had an eye condition diagnosed several months ago and her ophthalmologist recommended vision correction. However, she could not start to wear contact lenses immediately, as her eyes needed time to adjust. Consequently, she tried using special prescription goggles, but she did not feel comfortable wearing them and decided to play without any vision correction until she was able to put on her contact lenses.

Finally, that day came and the result surpassed her expectations. During the first game, she did not miss any of her 10 free throws and was much faster on the court, because she did not have to concentrate on what she saw so hard.

DeFrancesco’s coach is extremely satisfied. After the latest game, he stated that the team was still playing in the state championships because of DeFrancesco’s contribution.
It is only DeFrancesco’s first season, but experts already appreciate her talent and – also thanks to her new contact lenses – they see a bright future for her.
