The latest data concerning trends associated with contact lenses use suggest that contact lenses are more often worn by women than by men. Some analysts explain it invoking the fact that women tend to be more fashion-conscious and pay more attention to their appearance. However, an eye care expert, Dr Tejas Shah believes that there are other, more important factors influencing the situation.
First of all, he stated that women are usually more careful with contact lenses and are willing to devote more time to insert and take out contact lenses. In Dr Shah’s opinion, women are naturally careful and gentle, which results in the ability to wear contact lenses more comfortably than men.
Of course, Dr Shah admits, that the situation may easily change, as contact lenses are really simple to use and everybody could wear them regardless of their sex. This especially true of daily contact lenses, which require no maintenance, no lens care solutions and – if their users follow the basic instructions – cause no complications.
