Though the number of people wearing different kinds of contact lenses in the UK is relatively high, some experts believe it could still be much higher. The popularity of contact lenses would increase, according to Mark Draper, if more patients were introduced to them at a young age.
Mark Draper is the head of professional affairs at CIBA Vision (the manufacturer of AIR OPTIX AQUA and AIR OPTIX NIGHT & DAY). Recently, he has taken part in a live webinar organised in order to promote a new handbook for eye care specialists published by CIBA Vision, and talked about several issues connected with contact lenses.
The handbook deals with numerous problems that vision professionals have to face on a daily basis, including how to keep customers. Discussing this issue, Draper stressed how beneficial is to show the positive effects of wearing contact lenses at an earlier age.
At the moment, he said, the average contact lens user starts to use them when they are 23, seven years later than glasses, which should be improved.
