A recently conducted survey has shown that ACUMINDER™, a free reminder service, contributes to the improvement of the frequency of contact lenses replacement, leading to a lower risk of eye infection and other serious complications.
In spite of numerous warnings and the availability of specific instructions, many contact lens users still have problems complying with the recommended replacement schedule. In order to improve the situation, VISTAKON®, the producer of ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses, decided to introduce a special service for all contact lens users.
This has been a success, as almost 40,000 contact lens wearers have signed up and use it, receiving automatic reminders by e-mail or text messages when they should change their contact lenses.
According to the above-mentioned survey, which included almost 700 ACUMINDER™ users, the tool is very useful. Around 95% of the respondents stated that it helped them remember when to replace their lenses, and 66% of them admitted that it had changed their replacement frequency for the better (the average period of wear of two-week lenses dropped from 19.9 days to 14.7 days).
