Because some patients suffering from the generative disease keratoconus do not have access to appropriate treatment options, SynergEyes, Inc. decided to introduce the Sharing Vision Grant Program consisting in providing patients in need with hybrid contact lenses manufactured by the company.
Apart from giving free ClearKone contact lenses to patients, the programme also includes specialist medical care and the company views it as a three-way partnership between SynergEyes, an eye care practitioner and a patient. In order to take part in the programme, patients need to apply, sharing their stories, and explain how the lenses would change their lives.
At the moment, 15 patients are benefitting from the programme; theyr are being treated by doctors cooperating with SynergEyes. According to SynergEyes, the target number of patients is 25; the remaining ten will be selected by the company (in accordance with the programme’s application process) and subsequently referred to appropriate eye care professionals practising in their area (who donate their services).
