Contact Lenses - Healthy Alternative to Cheap Glasses

The growing popularity of cheap reading glasses that can be easily bought in many shops worries some specialists. This is because such glasses could aggravate a person’s vision problems and even damage the eyes.

Among the problems that off-the-shelf glasses may cause, experts list double vision, eye strain, headaches. In spite of that, however, a large number of patients still choose to buy such glasses, mainly because they do not have enough free time to go to an optician or because they find them too expensive.

People who opted for off-the-peg glasses because of financial reasons might be pleasantly surprised to find inexpensive contact lenses. In addition, daily contact lenses could be an affordable option for the patients who only want to try whether wearing contact lenses instead of glasses is for them.

Consumer Champion, an international organisation, conducted a survey including 14 high street shops and found that they sold many models that were not suitable for use. The problem is particularly severe with respect to high prescription glasses and individuals who do not have the same prescription in both eyes.
