Bausch + Lomb Recalls Soothe Xtra Hydration (XH) Eye Drops

It has been announced that Bausch + Lomb (B+L), a manufacturer of contact lenses and related products, is carrying out a voluntary recall of its Soothe Xtra Hydration (XH) eye drops, which are only available in the US.

The company stated that it decided to start this recall on the basis of some consumer reports suggesting there might be foreign matter in the tip of the bottle. Preliminary tests conducted by B+L identified this foreign matter as mold.

Although no eye problems associated with the mold have been reported, the company initiated the recall of all existing lots of the drops in order to prevent patient safety from being compromised. Furthermore, B+L informed the American Food and Drug Administration of the recall. The company’s customers are asked to return Soothe Xtra Hydration (XH) eye drops.

An investigation into the issue, which will affect the future distribution of the drops, is being conducted by Bausch + Lomb.

The recall only concerns the Soothe Xtra Hydration (XH); other Soothe eye products will be sold without any changes.
