Wearing red coloured contact lenses on the set of the Twilight films has surprising consequences for one of their stars, Michael Sheen. Thanks to the fact that his eyes look so impressive in the films, the fans of the series have problems identifying him when he is not wearing his costume.
In the films, Michael Sheen plays the character of Aro, a powerful vampire capable of mindreading and a leader of the Volturi clan. His costume also includes a long, black wig and specially designed clothes.
Half jokingly, the actor stated that younger teenagers could not believe that he did not have red eyes or long black hair in real life and that is why they often fail to recognise him. He is glad he can enjoy his life and go out without being constantly disturbed by fans, but he also likes occasional meetings with them, as they always greet him with enthusiasm and are very positive about the way he played his character in the film series.
