PureVision 2 Launched by B+L

Bausch + Lomb (B+L) has launched PureVision 2 contact lenses including High Definition Optics.

The company states that the new lenses are effective in reducing glare and halos, at the same time providing their users with outstanding vision, especially in low light. This has been achieved by introducing a few changes to the design of the lenses, making it possible to deal effectively with, for instance, spherical aberration (significantly reduced across the whole power range).

Another improvement is packaging the lens in a special solution (ComfortMoist™ Technology), which results in markedly increased comfort on insertion. Moreover, PureVision 2 lenses are characterised by high gas permeability, providing the eyes with an appropriate amount of oxygen, which means lower risk of eye irritation or infection.

What is more, these extremely thin monthly lenses are very easy to handle. They are made of a silicone hydrogel material called balafilcon A and are manufactured in 8.6 mm base curve with powers ranging from +6.00D to -12.00D.
