Blanchard has created new options for its MSD contact lenses, in order to give patients with highly irregular corneas effective designs. Patients after traumatic injuries and with ocular surface diseases will also benefit from the developments.
The company reports that the new designs include additional edge clearance options (providing control for peripheral seal off, blanching, and vessel engorgement) and midperipheral/limbal clearance zone value (helping when the corneas are extremely steep).
The improved fitting set consists of 30 lenses that allow the fitter to use it in many more conditions than before without the need to buy another set.
Due to their special design, MSD contact lenses always centre well. Their profile curve creates a smooth refracting surface from the tear layer formed between the cornea and the lens, eliminating astigmatism – both regular and irregular – caused by the corneal surface.
MSD lenses are especially recommended for patients with keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, keratoglobus and dry eyes.
