The latest films including werewolf characters seem to have sparked a new fashion among teenagers. The Wolfman and Twilight have a number of cult followers who, in order to look like the monsters featured in the films, wear yellow contact lenses and fangs. Some of them go so far as to attach fake tails to their jeans.
However, in spite of their threatening appearance, these movie fans are not dangerous. They form 'packs' of around 20, satisfying their need for belonging like all the subcultures of the past.
Nonetheless, there has been some controversy surrounding the movement since one of its followers, nicknamed Wolfie Blackheart, cut a dog’s head off and published pictures of her boiling it online. Later, she explained that the dog had already been dead when she found it and she would never kill a canine as she is one.
Crazy contact lenses have also become very popular among the fans of another group of characters from Twilight. As a result, some sociologists predict, secondary schools may soon be full of vampires and werewolves instead of punks, Goths and metalheads.
