A new Bausch & Lomb brand, aimed specifically at green-minded consumers, has recently released their new product - Biotrue. Bausch & Lomb vice president for marketing claims it "emerged from two megatrends we saw, Bio-inspired products that look to nature for their best ideas" she continues. But what exactly is Biotrue?
While daily disposable contact lenses require no cleaning, other types need regular disinfecting and care to retain clear vision and prevent discomfort and infections from various microorganisms that form a biofilm on the lens surface. The market is full of lens cleaners, but Biotrue is the first one to mimic nature by using hyaluronan, a substance similar to tears developed for ocular surgery. It has a pH level of 7,5 which is said to be the range of healthy tears. It is also said to keep certain beneficial tear proteins active thus working like our eyes natural defence to provide the best comfort and health. Biotrue is the only cleaner to use hyaluronan at this time.
The creators also claim it a perfect solution for people that care for the environment, as the carton and bottle are 100 percent recyclable. The product is very innovative and definitely worth a try.
